RECORDED PHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN SCOTT PETERSON AND SHARON ROCHA: JANUARY 11, 2003 AT 1256 HOURS
(phone ringing)
Sharon ROCHA: Hello
Scott PETERSON: Hey, mom, it’s Scott.
Sharon ROCHA: Hi.
Scott PETERSON: Hey, thanks, I just missed your call.
Sharon ROCHA: Did you get my message?
Scott PETERSON: I did, yeah.
Sharon ROCHA: See, we knew it. I think…
Scott PETERSON: Big old boat anchor or something huh?
Sharon ROCHA: Yep.
Scott PETERSON: But thank goodness at least it wasn’t another body and it would just postpone everything else and take longer at that.
Sharon ROCHA: Yeah I know, yeah.
Scott PETERSON: So um…your mom and dad know and Susan knows um…because I was trying to reach you.
Sharon ROCHA: Yeah.
Scott PETERSON: And so now we’re just trying to call everybody to tell them that it was an anchor and everybody can breathe and get on with finding her.
Sharon ROCHA: Yeah. Um…I still…I know this one more thing but I talked to Ron Cloward again about…about your dog, where it stopped on, that, Highland. Was it that, that…
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Sharon ROCHA: That very corner house, right?
Scott PETERSON: That’s what I thought.

Sharon ROCHA: Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I don’t know, the way they said it had funny, you know, sniffing all around. It still…I’m still trying to get them to find that um, blue pickup that Kim McGregor said she saw several times.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, definitely.
Sharon ROCHA: I mean if they were sitting there watching and it was a couple… I mean, I keep going back to someone, you know, taken her for the baby.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Sharon ROCHA: But um…at least that part was good news anyway so it’s not postponing anything, taking any more time away from that.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, we can dedicate all those people to something else, huh?
Sharon ROCHA: What was that?
Scott PETERSON: We can dedicate…or hopefully they’ll dedicate all those officers to searching other stuff…
Sharon ROCHA: Yes, yes. So okay, I just wanted you to know that.
Scott PETERSON: Um…am I gonna get to see you tonight?
Sharon ROCHA: I don’t know. Your dad just said that…I forgot all about that. To tell you the truth I wasn’t even thinking about going out there. Is it at her house?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, at Kim’s house.
Sharon ROCHA: At Kim’s house, yeah. I hadn’t even given any thought to it, I forgot all about it.
Scott PETERSON: And then at Big Valley there’s uh…they’re having a special prayer vigil at 6:00.
Sharon ROCHA: Oh, really?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, that I think I’ll go to before.
Sharon ROCHA: Yeah, I didn’t know that either.

Sharon ROCHA: Now, is that…is that the one on Dale Road?
Scott PETERSON: Um…I don’t know exactly.
Sharon ROCHA: Or Tully? I don’t know which one.
Scott PETERSON: It’s that special entrance off of like Kiernan or something. I think…I think that’s Big Valley.
Sharon ROCHA: Oh, that one? Okay, okay. Yeah, I didn’t know about that. And that’s at 6:00 o’clock?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Sharon ROCHA: Okay, okay. Okay, well, we might…we might see you there. Like I said I didn’t even know about that so…
Scott PETERSON: It would be good to see you guys.
Sharon ROCHA: Okay. Um…where are you headed now?
Scott PETERSON: Well, I’m actually down in Bakersfield.
Sharon ROCHA: Oh, are you? Okay.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, I had to finish up some work stuff here today and I’m, we’re just getting done.
Sharon ROCHA: Okay.
Scott PETERSON: We’re gonna pass out fliers on the way home so I won’t be home till 5:00 or so.
Sharon ROCHA: Okay. Cause I was um…I want um…I was gonna get your camera and charge that battery up for you if you want me to.
Scott PETERSON: Oh, yeah. I got a chance to look through it. You know how batteries tend to recharge after a little bit?
Sharon ROCHA: Uh-huh.
Scott PETERSON: So I looked at the whole tape and all there is, is footage of a party we had and all the girls running around in bikinis and stuff.
Sharon ROCHA: Yeah, we probably don’t want to put that one on there, huh?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Sharon ROCHA: Hee…Hee… Okay, so when are you gonna be back?
Scott PETERSON: Um…probably not before 5:00.
Sharon ROCHA: Okay.
Scott PETERSON: I’ll take three hours and I’m gonna stop a bunch for fliers and stuff so…
