SCOTT PETERSON: JANUARY 31, 2003 AT 1011 HOURS
(phone ringing)
Scott PETERSON: Hi, mom.
Jackie PETERSON: Hi. I got the phone transferred over.
Scott PETERSON: Great.
Jackie PETERSON: And they said it would be done in 15 minutes.
Scott PETERSON: All right.
Jackie PETERSON: And I talked…I called your phone answering and they answered perfectly.
Scott PETERSON: Great.
Jackie PETERSON: Laci answer line. And I let them know that the next 15 minutes it becomes theres.
Scott PETERSON: Super.
Jackie PETERSON: So, it’s all a done deal.
Scott PETERSON: All right.
Jackie PETERSON: And now the other line with the media…
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: …where did you decide you want that to ring?
Scott PETERSON: I’m still working on that. I gotta get that…
Jackie PETERSON: How about your home? It would just go on voicemail at your house.
Scott PETERSON: Sure, except that I’m not gonna be there very much.
Jackie PETERSON: Huh?
Scott PETERSON: I’m not gonna be there very much.

Scott PETERSON: I won’t be there for at least…
Jackie PETERSON: Oh! And you need somebody to be faxing it to me?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: Okay. So you’re working on that because I’d like to cut them off this week.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: But it doesn’t matter. I mean I could cut’em off Monday as well as Friday.
Scott PETERSON: And I’m making the calls right now to do it.
Jackie PETERSON: Okay.
Scott PETERSON: I just talked to the Longview Police again and they’re still…they said they have 50 hours of tape to look at.
Jackie PETERSON: Oh, wow! But at least somebody’s talking to you, huh?
Scott PETERSON: Yeah. The Detective seems really nice up there.
Jackie PETERSON: Well, you know that you’re the only one that can truly identify her.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah, I know. That’s what I told them that I’d be up there in a minute if they…there’s even a possibility.
Jackie PETERSON: Yeah. I hope it is because it gives us hope that she’s alive and um…maybe she’s in Canada right now.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: You might have them…if the Canadians have tapes at their border.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: Cause it’s close to that and that’s the direction we’re headed here.

Scott PETERSON: Uh-hum. is it very far north, that town?
Jackie PETERSON: Um…on the map it looks far. But, you know, I looked it up in the Atlas.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: It doesn’t…but I don’t think it’s very far. You know how things look far?
Scott PETERSON: Sure.
Jackie PETERSON: Like a day’s drive, maybe less than that.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: And you’re driving and than all of a sudden you’re there.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: And it’s straight up Highway 5 right straight across the border, you just go straight up. And this is right at Highway 5 and it’s right at the border of Washington and Oregon.
Scott PETERSON: Okay.
Jackie PETERSON: So it’s by a big waterway. It looks…it’s a huge town, it’s very big.
Scott PETERSON: Is it?
Jackie PETERSON: Yeah. So I was gonna call um…e-mail ah, Rachel and ask your to plaster the place with posters all over the hospitals and stuff. She must have a group of friends that would help her.
Scott PETERSON: Yeah.
Jackie PETERSON: So if you think of that give her…give her a holler.
Scott PETERSON: Definitely.
Jackie PETERSON: We’re just…Dad’s got Mackie loaded and we’re gonna go deliver him to Janey. And then we’re supposed to meet Susan with Rachel to hit some malls.
Scott PETERSON: Oh, cool!

Scott PETERSON: Do you have both his beds?
Jackie PETERSON: Pardon?
Scott PETERSON: Do you have both his beds?
Jackie PETERSON: I’ll make sure of that right now.
Scott PETERSON: Okay, thanks.
Jackie PETERSON: Okay, sweetheart. I love you.
Scott PETERSON: I’ll pick him up some peanut butter biscuits.
Jackie PETERSON: Pick him up some?
Scott PETERSON: I’ll get him some.

Jackie PETERSON: All right. You know there may be nothing’s happening Saturday, but you’re welcome here anytime.
